    From Pleasanton take 580 and exit at Castro Valley Blvd. From East Castro Valley Blvd. turn left on Redwood Rd.
    Continue toward Hayward on Redwood Rd. to Foothill Blvd. Turn left on Foothill, drive past Jackson St. and turn left on Carlos Bee Blvd.
    At the signal light, bear right to CSUEB. Turn left on to Loop Road when you reach the campus and turn right into the first parking lot.

    Music of the Baroque: A Lecture-Recital

    Featuring students of Gail Lew Piano Studio

    With a special presentation by Baroque keyboard specialist

    Gilbert Martinez of Music Sources

    This unique recital will feature music composed between the years 1600 and 1750. Featured composers include J.S. Bach, Georg Phillip Telemann, George Frideric Handel, Domenico Scarlatti, and other Baroque composers. Inventions, Preludes, Fugues, and Fantasias, along with dance forms such as the Minuet, Gavotte, Passepied, and Courante will be performed on harpsichord and fortepiano.

    Performers will demonstrate musical ornamentation through the use of trills, turns, appoggiaturas, and mordents, as well as extended embellishments such as scales and arpeggios.

Gail Lew is the former director of keyboard publications for Warner Bros. Music and currently serves as Editor and New Music Reviewer for the California Music Teacher magazine, Chairperson for the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy Committee on Independent Music Teachers, adjunct professor of applied piano for Las Positas College, and adjudicator for state, national, and international events. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance, Master of Arts Degree in Music History, and Lifetime California State Teaching Credential.. More ...
